Jakarta – Indonesia sesungguhnya berada dalam situasi darurat pengangguran. Menurut data IMF menempatkan Indonesia sebagai  negara yang memiliki  tingkat pengangguran tertinggi di Asia Tenggara. Menurut data IMF, angka pengangguran Indonesia di tahun 2025 mencapai 5 % , disusul Filipina dengan 4,5% dan Brunei Darussalam dengan 4,9% dan seterusnya.  Sementara data.goodstats.id menempatkan Indonesia  berada di urutan ke-7 di Asia. 

Sementara itu  Laporan FAO berjudul The Status of Youth in Agrifood Systems yang dirilis pada tanggal 3 Juli 2025 sebagaimana dikutip dari Kompas.com  mengungkap fakta yang mengkhawatirkan: lebih dari 20 persen dari 1,3 miliar pemuda di dunia saat ini tidak bekerja, tidak sekolah, atau tidak sedang dalam pelatihan (NEET). 

Organisasi Pangan dan Pertanian Perserikatan Bangsa-Bangsa (FAO) melihat sektor pertanian dan pangan sebagai solusi untuk mengatasi tingkat pengangguran pemuda global yang berada di tingkat mengkhawatirkan.  Jika pengangguran ini berhasil ditangani, terutama di kalangan pemuda usia 20-24 tahun, hal itu berpotensi meningkatkan Produk Domestik Bruto (PDB) global sebesar 1,4 persen.
