Angka yang sangat jauh mengalahkan rivalnya Andrew Cuomo yang didukung Partai Republik dan tentunya Trump sebagai sedang menjabat Presiden Amerika sekarang ini. “Saya rasa ini tidak baik untuk Partai Republik,’’ ujar Trump. Trump juga menyebut Zohran Mamdani sebagai komunis. “Komunis, sosialis Marxis, dan globalis memiliki kesempatan, dan mereka hanya menghasilkan bencana. Dan sekarang mari kita lihat bagaimana seorang komunis akan bertindak di New York,” kata Trump
Meski demikian, Trump yang juga sedang menjabat Presiden Amerika Serikat mengaku bersedia membantu pemerintahan New York sekaligus mendoakan kota itu sukses.
