Jakarta — Koordinator Tim Pengacara Roy Suryo dkk, Petrus Selestinus SH menkritik keras kinerja Polda Metro Jaya yang dinilainya tidak netral dalam menangani kasus dugaan ijazah Palsu Jokowi. Khususnya terhadap Roy Suryo dkk. Bahkan Petrus yang juga mantan anggota Komisioner KPKPN era reformasi menilai penetapan tersangka Roy Suryo, Rismon dkk adalah keputusan yang tidak tepat dan cenderung dipaksakan. Kasus ini harusnya segera dihentikan karena tidak memenuhi unsur pidana. Apa yang dilakukan mereka lebih kepada kritik dan kontrol publik, bukan tindak pidana.
Petrus Silestinus, SH yang juga Koordinator Tim Pembela Demokrasi Indonesia (TPDI) menyampaikan hal tersebut saat tampil dalam podcast kanal You Tube Abraham Samad Speak UP yang diuplod, Kamis 13 November 2025.
Bang Petrus demikian biasa disapa , dalam podcast tersebut yang dipandu mantan Ketua KPK Periode 20211-2015 Abraham Samad, mengurai beberapa kejanggalan proses penanganan kasus ijazah Jokowi yang berujung pada penetapan tersangka oleh Polda Metro Jaya. Terutama soal alat bukti sebagai syarat seseorang untuk bisa ditetapkan sebagai tersangka. Bahwa sampai dengan penetapan tersangka, penyidik tidak melakukan atau belum melakukan tindakan penyitaan atas barang-barang yang diduga digunakan Roy Suryo dkk melakukan tindak pidana. Begitupun barang-barang yang dijadikan sebagai obyek dalam melakukan tindak pidana.
‘’Pada hal dua hal ini sangat urgen untuk seseorang baru bisa ditetapkan tersangka,’’ ujarnya.
Menurutnya, penting diketahui oleh publik atau masyarakat luas, bahwa kasus ini sesungguhnya bermula dari kritik dan pertanyaan publik mengenai keaslian ijazah Presiden Jokowi saat itu. Apakah benar asli atau palsu? Kritik dan pertanyaan tersebut sudah berlangsung cukup lama dan terus berlanjut sampai sekarang. Bahkan sejak Jokowi sendiri masih menjabat sebagai Presiden. Roy Suryo, Rismon dan kawan-kawan merespon keraguan public dengan melakukan penelitian, uji di lapangan dengan penekatan ilmiah hingga membuahkan kesimpulan ilmiah seperti yang sudah disampaikan ke publiknya. Namun, oleh aparat penegak hukum Polda justru menetapkan mereka jadi tersangka di saat menjalankan profesi keilmuannya.

‘’Menurut saya, ini keliru dan tidak tepat karena tidak ada unsur pidananya,’’ ujar. yang terpenuhi Bang Petrus mengaku kuatir dengan aparat kepolisian yang sudah terlalu bertindak dalam kasus ini. Bahkan cenderung tidak professional seolah menjalankan titipan, pesanan dari Jokowi.
‘’Penegakan hukum jangan sampai digunakan untuk membungkam kritik. Kalau masyarakat mempertanyakan keaslian ijazah Presiden, itu bagian dari kebebasan berekspresi,’’ tambahnya.
Petrus juga sejalan dengan pandangan nitizen bahwa kasus ijazah Jokowi tersebut bisa menjadi preseden buruk bagi demokrasi. Bahkan semakin memperburuk iklim demokrasi. Apatah lagi, bila penangananya tidak professional dan tidak transparan.
‘’Sangat berbahaya. Kalau setiap ada kritik dianggap kriminal, maka demokrasi kita mundur,’’ ujarnya menegaskan penetapan tersangka Roy Suryo dkk harus dihentikan demi menjaga keadilan dan kebebasan berpendapat.
Menurutnya, dalam KUHP sudah jelas dan tegas menyampaikan pendapat, itu bukan tindak pidana. ‘’Aparat harus obyektif, jangan terkesan melindungi pihak tertentu. Apalagi ini hasil penelitian..’’ jelasnya.
