JAKARTA — Kondisi ekonomi masyarakat, khususnya kelompok kelas menengah di Indonesia, kini berada dalam titik kritis yang mengkhawatirkan. Tekanan hidup yang kian menghimpit diprediksi bisa memicu gelombang ketidakpuasan sosial yang besar jika pemerintah tidak segera mengambil tindakan nyata.

Peringatan emosional ini disampaikan oleh Ekonom Senior, Prof. Ferry Latuhihin. Ia menyoroti bagaimana masyarakat kini harus menghadapi “hantaman bertubi-tubi” dari berbagai arah yang menggerus isi dompet mereka.

“Saat ini sedang terjadi tekanan ganda di sektor riil. Kombinasi antara nilai tukar dolar yang melambung tinggi, harga energi dan minyak yang mahal, ditambah lagi dengan ancaman siklus iklim ekstrem yang membuat harga pangan melonjak. Ini luar biasa berat bagi rakyat,” jelas Ferry dalam tayangan gelar wicara di kanal YouTube Abraham Samad SPEAK UP.

Ferry menilai, kelompok yang paling menderita dari situasi ini adalah kelas menengah. Berbeda dengan kelompok masyarakat miskin yang masih mendapatkan bantalan berupa bantuan sosial (bansos) dari pemerintah, kelas menengah justru sering kali luput dari perhatian kebijakan fiskal negara.

Kondisi ini diperparah dengan lapangan kerja produktif yang makin sulit didapat. Akibatnya, ruang tabungan warga kelas menengah terus terkuras demi memenuhi kebutuhan hidup sehari-hari yang harganya kian mencekik. Ferry memperingatkan bahwa daya tahan emosional dan psikologis masyarakat saat ini sudah mendekati batas akhir.

“Daya tahan sosial kita ada batasnya. Di saat rakyat harus berjuang mati-matian bertahan hidup, ruang anggaran negara (APBN) justru banyak tersedot untuk program-program yang sifatnya konsumsi langsung, bukan penciptaan lapangan kerja,” kritiknya tajam.

Menurut Ferry, jika krisis di sektor riil ini terus dibiarkan tanpa adanya langkah mitigasi dan evaluasi kebijakan yang konkret dari pemerintah, ketidakpastian ekonomi ini berisiko besar bertransformasi menjadi gejolak dan ketegangan sosial di tengah masyarakat. Pemerintah diminta untuk segera menghentikan sikap menyangkal (denial) dan fokus menyelamatkan daya beli rakyat sebelum terlambat.
