Jakarta — Wakil Presiden RI Gibran Rakabuming Raka kini benar benar sedang diujung tanduk. Belum redah desakan pemakzulan  anggota purnawirawan TNI, kini muncul masalah baru. Status ijazah yang digunakan saat mendaftar maju sebagai calon wakil presiden saat pilpres 2024  digugat ke pengadilan karena dianggap tidak memenuhi syarat atau tidak sah secara hukum. 

Sebelumnya  saat pemilihan Presiden 2024 yang lalu, Gibran yang juga anak Presiden berkuasa saat itu, Joko Widodo maju mendaftar dengan posisi Wakil Presiden  berpasangan Prabowo Subianto selaku Calon Presiden. Berdasarkan UU  Nomor 7 tahun 2017 tentang Pemilu, disebutkan syarat Pendidikan bagi calon Presiden dan Wakil Presiden adalah lulusan Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA) atau sederajat.  

Kementerian Pendidikan  saat itu dijabat Nadin Makarin menerbitkan surat keterangan tentang pengesahan dan pengakuan pendidikan Gibran saat bersekolah di Singapura setara dengan lulus SMA di Indonesia. Surat keterangan tersebut rupanya mengundang polemik di masyarakat luas.  Mereka ragu surat tersebut terbit tanpa ada intervensi dari Joko Widodo sebagai Presiden saat itu. 

Prof. Sulfikar Amir, Guru  Besar dari Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapura, juga angkat bicara soal status Pendidikan Gibran.  Sulfikar menjelaskan sistem Pendidikan di Singapura memang berbeda dengan di Indonesia. Di mana Singapura sesungguhnya mengikuti sistem Pendidikan British atau Inggris dengan sistem penjenjaman yakni Primary School dan Secondary School.   Demikian dijelaskan saat tampil podcas di kanal youtube Abraham Samad Speak UP, milik mantan Ketua KPK Periode 2011-2015.

Menurutnya, sama seperti  di Indonesia setiap anak di Singapore juga akan mengikuti Pendidikan  dasar selama 6  tahun yang disebut Primary School.  Lalu, anak yang lulus akan lanjut ke Secondary School yang durasinya empat tahun.

’Kalau di hitung-hitung waktu di Indonesia mirip SMP Plus. Atau kalau di Indonesia sama kelas 10 di SMA,’’ ujarnya menganalogikan Pendidikan di Indonesia dengan pendekatan durasi waktu lamanya orang bersekolah.

Setiap anak atau siswa yang selesai Secondari School, tidak otomatis disebut lulus. Siswa akan menempuh tes yang disebut O Level atau Ordinary Level, baru setelah itu mereka punya pilihan berdasarkan nilai tes atau minatnya untuk lanjut pendidikan tinggi.

Sulfikar tidak menanggapi kualifikasi  MDIS.  Ia hanya menjelaskan selama ini,  di Singapura semua Universitas sesungguhnya  bersatus negeri. Ada swasta seperti MDIS tapi tidak memiliki kewenangan langsung untuk menerbitkan ijazah atau memberikan gelar kepada seseorang.  Mereka harus berkolaborasi atau menyewa kurikulum perguruan tinggi di luar untuk digunakan.
